I love winter in Mallorca!

Today’s Sunday was unbelievably beautiful. I love winters in Mallorca. Take a look at these pictures!

When the sun shines in winter, the difference between 18 degrees in the shade and the temperature in the sun is astonishingly large. At lunchtime, if it’s not too windy, you can absolutely eat in a T-shirt. Hard to imagine just before Christmas, isn’t it? Take a look at the average temperatures on this weather page—they’re always at pleasantly relaxed levels and, above all: little rainfall and lots of sunshine.

Sure, when the sun is shining, it simply has a higher intensity than in Central Europe. You quickly take off a layer you just threw on. Then there are also those weeks when it rains a lot. And there are the winter storms in Mallorca, which are among my celebrated events.

By the way, Frédéric Chopin, together with George Sand, had a truly miserable winter on the island in 1838/39. Today, somehow, everything is portrayed quite differently, but it’s actually a rather entertaining historical “misconception” that you can read about here.
