WiP06 – Love for detail

Today it’s about natural stone, pedra seca, construction details such as thermal insulation, interior design, and air conditioning systems.

A great deal of love for detail is evident in the use of “pedra seca”, Mallorcan natural stone, in our Molinar townhouse project. We install it without joints, as was traditionally done. Which involves a good portion of craftsmanship.
Here we use a metal profile to enable a perfect horizontal finish of the wall and a visually successful integration of the green area.
We use SATE façades for thermal insulation. So that our houses become more sustainable. And so there is a good indoor climate inside them. The build-up is progressing well—you can see that clearly in the photos.
The difficult part of such thermal insulation is avoiding thermal bridges caused by other elements that protrude from the façade. Or where there are openings in the façade. This must be built well and checked well so that, in the end, no moisture develops that could then lead to structural damage. Take a look at the following image to see how well the guys executed it!
Aina Company, our interior designer on this project, is giving the design of the underfloor cabinets and distribution systems another final touch. So that it not only looks good, but all the technical equipment is easily accessible for maintenance or—hopefully not—repairs.
Do you know those ugly air-conditioning grilles? We don’t like them. That’s why we decided to integrate as many openings as possible into the built-in cabinets. But here, too, the devil is in the detail. If the slots are too long, the wood can move too much, which logically suffers from the temperature differences. Or there can be too much condensation moisture. That’s why we’re examining the individual options here, so that it not only looks good, but also works superbly.

We also try to work very space-efficiently. Normally, a small cabinet is hung on the wall in the utility connection room. In which a lonely patch panel passes the time with a small switch. We mount the whole thing on the back wall. And fasten it with a solid 19″ steel mounting bracket. So that only a few centimeters of depth are lost. But not a whole cabinet.
So. And here you can already see a little preview of what will surely be the next big topic: the kitchen. We’re now moving on to the final selection. And as you know, this topic is very close to our hearts. And you’ll hear more about it soon.
Another detail that must be observed during the works is the waterproofing of the shower trays and the walls of the shower area against possible water ingress. The bathrooms on our construction site have already been waterproofed with SCHLUTER-SYSTEM membranes, and we will also carry out watertightness tests. Afterwards, we will prepare a bathroom to test the polished microcement, the color and texture of which we selected according to the project specifications.
Greetings,
